Movies That Have Won Grammy Awards

Movies and music have a close relationship, with music often playing an integral role in setting the tone and atmosphere of a film. Over the years, many movies have been recognized for their musical achievements with Grammy Awards. “The Bodyguard” (1992), this Whitney Houston film features a soundtrack that includes several of her hit songs, including “I Will Always Love You.” The soundtrack was a commercial success, selling over 44 million copies worldwide, and won the Grammy Award for Best Soundtrack Album for Visual Media.

“O Brother, Where Art Thou?” (2000) this film, set in the 1930s, features a soundtrack filled with bluegrass, country, and gospel music. The soundtrack won the Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media, and several of the songs from the soundtrack, including “I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow,” have become cultural touchstones. “Dreamgirls” (2006), this musical film based on the rise of a 1960s girl group, features a powerful soundtrack filled with soulful ballads and upbeat numbers. The soundtrack was nominated for several Grammy Awards, including Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media and Best Song Written for Visual Media.

“Frozen” (2013), this Disney animated film features a soundtrack that has become a cultural phenomenon, with hit songs like “Let It Go” and “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” The soundtrack won the Grammy Awards for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media and Best Song Written for Visual Media. “La La Land” (2016) is a romantic musical film that features a soundtrack filled with original songs that have become popular in their own right. The soundtrack was nominated for several Grammy Awards, including Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media and Best Song Written for Visual Media.
