Diego The Tortoise Saved His Entire Species By Reproducing

By Brittney Anderson - March 12, 2018

Diego the tortoise has been hailed the hero of his species for having reproduced so much that he actually managed to save his species from going extinct.

This highly nature driven reptile is over 100 years old and is the father to over 800 offspring, making him the reason for the existence of tortoise today.

His species were about to go extinct in the Galapagos island, right off the coast of South America. However since he is very sexually active, he has significantly changed the situation and has repopulated the island.

The world is currently seeing extremely high levels of extinction. 1000 times higher than expected in fact, due to human activity.  The rate of extinction is alarming, and it’s time for us to take pride in our planet and help it flourish and preserve it.

Diego is a true trooper, and we should all learn from him.
