Sep 14, 2021 ByAshley Jobrien

Power couple Jasmine Tookes and Juan David Borrero got hitched over Labor Day weekend. Tookes is one of the world’s most famous supermodels, receiving global attention when she debuted as a Victoria’s Secret Angel in 2015, while Borrero is a high-level executive at Snapchat and the son of the vice president of Ecuador. The couple was married in the city of Quito, Ecuador, where Borrero is a citizen. Vogue, who had the exclusive rights to cover the event, reported that the 30-year-old supermodel wore a specially designed Zuhair Murad wedding dress styled after Grace Kelly’s wedding dress when Kelly married Prince Rainier III of Monaco.

On the decision to have Zuhair Murad design the gown, Tookes told Vogue “I wanted him to make my dress from the moment I walked in his first couture show”. Grace Kelly had her wedding designed by Helen Rose with the dress featuring a long-sleeved bodice, a large bow, and a lacy neckline with the most eye-catching feature being the incredibly long train of the skirt.

Kelly’s dress had over 400 yards of ivory faille and silk net with an estimated cost of $65,200 in 1956 ($650,000 approximately when adjusted for inflation). Similar to Kelly’s gown, Tookes’ wedding dress also featured a lacy neckline, long sleeves, a large bow, and a long train. Murad updated the dress by making the bodice sheer and added a more contemporary styled back. Murad also changed the skirt to be removable so that Tookes had a more elegant and modern look for the reception.

Tookes told Vogue: “I sent him my inspiration, and he drew up the most beautiful and timeless dress that I have ever seen”.

“Still can’t believe I’m living in a real-life fairytale with you,” Jasmine wrote on an Instagram post featuring her newlywed husband.
