Let’s Talk About Tom Brady’s Kiss With His Son
The bond between a son and father is one that cannot be found anywhere else. It’s a one-of-a-kind loving bond. Just like this kiss between Tom Brady and his son, right?
Ok, so maybe it’s not the most normal, natural thing. Let’s discuss.
Tom Brady, the Patriots quarterback is not only an NFL star, but also the star of a Facebook documentary series entitled Tom vs. Time. This series is a documentary following him through his difficult health and training routine. But the third episode has got all viewers a little caught off guard, especially since he is seen kissing his son on the lips.
The scandalous kiss went viral and became an online debate about the level in which parents should show affection towards their children. Of course everyone has a different take on this matter, even psychologists that specialize in child studies also differ in their beliefs about the impact of affection on children.
Victoria Beckham striked a similar debate a year ago when she posted a picture on Instagram of her kissing her daughter on the lips. Several child psychologists were interviewed to see their take on the matter. A UCLA doctor expresses that she believes that parents should not kiss their kids on the lips, that it can be hard to know when to stop and it can become very confusing for the child. She adds that it can also be rather sexually stimulating after the age of 5 or 6, which as a parent, you probably do not want. Another doctor however from the Sydney Child Psychology Center believes otherwise, saying that it is a healthy and normal affectionate action to show your children how much you love them.
At the moment, there is no evidence that kissing your children on the lips is harmful. Regardless, the kiss most likely will help him get more viewers in his new series.
