Selena Gomez Goes Private On Social Media After Interview Criticism
If you’re one of Selena Gomez’s 130 million Instagram followers, you should consider yourself lucky. The young actress has officially made her social media account private, and only those approved to follow the actress will be able to see her posts.
Lots of speculation surrounding the private move from the public figure has surfaced across social media. Fans seem confused, frustrated, and looking for answers from the former Disney star.
Before making her account private, Gomez posts a screenshot of a recent interview and wrote in response, “Never will I let another human guess my words ever again. Or invite them in my home. That is so hurtful. The most ‘ridiculous’ part of that is no one knowing my heart when I say things.”
Selena is featured on the cover of Billboard Magazine this month, and the screenshot she posted was from her feature story, which consisted of an interview inside her home. The full text that can be seen in her (now private) post stated, “There’s a five-foot teddy bear sprawled across the kitchen floor in Selena Gomez’s North Hollywood home. ‘I know, I know,’ says Gomez, rolling her eyes, acknowledging that the stuffed animal doesn’t quite blend with the trio of armchairs nestled in the inviting, marble-accented nook. ‘It was a gift, and at first I thought, ‘This is so ridiculous, I can’t wait until I give it away to another person.’ But Gomez, 25, hasn’t let go of it — yet.”

While it is not clear whether the change in privacy status is in direct response to the interview, many fans are reading Selena’s emotional response as reason enough to believe the Billboard article had an impact on her decision to go private.
